Scotia Speedway - Sat. August 12th
20th Place - The Atlantic CAT 250
The
results of the Atlantic CAT 250 unfortunately don't show how well the WBR team had been
running at Scotia Speedworld. Posting top five times in practice sessions on both Friday
and Saturday, the #47 seemed on its way to a good run. But a poor draw for the first heat
on Friday night resulted in Corey being hung on the outside of a slower car and resulted
in an eight place finish for a start outside of the top 20 for the feature.
After a 55 minute delay for track drying
from a quick but heavy downpour, the 250 got started before a capacity crowd. The first
tangle on lap 6 involved the third and fourth place cars. In five more laps of green,
Corey had picked off a couple more spots. Then the second bigger incident started with
cars just in front of Corey. The 89 tagged the 19v and spun around directly in front of
the #47. Corey ran up the fender of the 89 tearing up the right side of the 47. Some quick
tape work got the body back in shape, but the car never ran well again. The team decided
to retire the car on lap 101 instead of taking the chance of doing further damage.
In the points chase, Corey stands tied for 6th Travis Khiel in the #44.
