In the
100 lap feature for the PASS Outlaws, Corey started from the outside pole after his easy
win in qualifying Heat #2. The #47 took the lead on lap 2, but, at about the lap five
mark, the left front shock blew. Corey stayed in the lead till lap 24 and had only fallen
back to fourth by lap 65 when he pitted to see if a repair could be accomplished. Back on
track in 17th, Corey
was running better but could only make it back up to eighth.
Corey in the Speed 51 story linked below:
We made a few changes, but there was only so
much that we could do to fix that problem, said Williams. I pretty much
knew that our chances of winning were out the window, but I thought that we could get a
top three finish. If we had a caution, that might have happened, but the long green
didnt help us.

PASS
Super Late Model 300
Corey
started off well in the Super Late Model with a win in Consi #1.
Starting in seventh, the #47 fell back to ninth. Then Corey caught a break in a
multi-car lap five tangle. Corey made it through the mess and wound up fourth. As the race
ran green to the end of the short fifteen laps, Corey picked off cars one by one and
passed for the lead down the main straight on the last lap for a mid-pack starting spot in
the 300 lap feature.
But it was a short race for
Corey. The Speed 51 report:
"The trouble
really got going on lap 11, when Bill Penfold made contact with Alan Tardiff twice.
After the second bump, Tardiff cut a tire and slowed on the frontstretch. A rabid
pack of racecars were right on Tardiffs tail and predictably, all hell broke
loose. Donnie Whitten launched over Tardiffs car into the air. Corey
Williams and Cassius Clark took head-first trips into the frontstretch wall. Dave
Dion and Curtis Gerry both took hard hits. Dion continued. Gerry did not.
Clark, Whitten and Williams were also done for the night. Clark also suffered a
broken finger from the wreck in addition to the heavy damage that his racecar
incurred."
The #47 suffered substantial damage from hitting the main straight wall and
from the #7 of Curtis Gerry T-boning it and burrowing underneath, leaving the #47
sitting on the nose of the #7. The rear axle and suspension were knocked right out of the
#47. Corey was OK but not happy about an early walk back to the pits.
Beech Ridge 400 Weekend Qualifying on 9/24
Corey is running both the PASS Outlaw Late Model 100 lap
race (in the orange car) and the PASS Super Late Models 300 lap race (red car) at Beech
Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME.
But rain has once again disrupted the event. Saturday the 23rd was a complete
washout so the qualifying was moved to Sunday the 24th. Heats for all divisions were just
barely completed before a downpour came and ended the day. Now consis and some of the
support race features will run on Friday the 29th at 6 PM while the main features will
start on Noon on Saturday the 30th. The Groveton, NH Riverside Speedway PASS Super Late
Model event planned for the 30th has now been canceled.
In Heat #2 for the
Outlaws, Corey took off from the outside of the front row and just disappeared from the
rest for the win.
In Heat #3 for the
Super Late Models, Corey had a back of the pack starting spot and a bunch of cars that
were running side by side. With no place to run Corey was stuck in 10th and will be
running in one of the consis on Saturday.
