A strong
night of racing for Corey at the Triple 50s at Oxford. Three 50 sprints with the field
totally inverted after the first and second segments.
Overall finish based upon points earned in all three segments. In time trials, Corey broke into the 14's
with a 14.965. Now 3rd to 9th posted 14.893 to 14.964 - so it was a very competitive
bunch.
The Dash saw a cloud of smoke from the #47 on lap six, but repairs fixed the oil
leak and the car was good to go for the feature sprints.
Corey ran to a seventh in the first segment, running with the Rowes, the Clarks,
Travis Benjamin, Tim Bracket, Alan Wilson, and Ricky Rolfe - just some of the best who
have ever raced at Oxford.
With the field inverted, racing in
heavy traffic was the name of the game for segment two. Corey was nailed from behind and
took a long slid (top row, middle shot below) through turn three and off the outside. The
#47 headed to pits on lap seven to check for damage and do appropriate repairs.
That 30th place finish put Corey on
the pole for the final segment. Corey grabbed the lead at the green and held it for 30
laps. Overall winner Cassius Clark got by on lap 31. Corey ran in second, holding Ben Rowe
off from laps 31 to 39. The #47 also posted the fourth fastest lap of the segment - an
indication of how good his racing was.
The excellent finishes in the parts 1 and 3 put Corey into 11th in the overall
ranking, a nice score for a hard night of racing. |
