A hard
hit in the first heat, a thrash to rebuild for the feature with great help from some other
teams - rewarded with a 10th place finish.
Corey timed in at 12.615 for 13th and outside pole in the
first heat. A battle with Richie Dearborn ended when Corey ran wide out of turn four and
caught the main straight wall - very easy to do at the tight Riverside quarter mile.
Then it was a bunch of folks pitching in to get the #47 going.
Corey started 19th and stayed up with the cars around him. With few cautions and
the leaders flying, Corey went down on lap on the 57th.
The #47 moved up to 15th by lap 132, then 11th on lap 144.
At lap 145 Corey survived a called
back restart where a few didn't see the yellow was still out. The #47 wound up in a bunch
of cars piled up at the beginning of the back straight but OK. A final restart found Corey
in 10th.
Dan's Take: "Corey got a little wide on the front
stretch and got the back end into the wall, which braught the front end into that wall
also. It pretty much destroyed the whole nose and right front spindle and upper a arm. We
replaced both with what we had (items not even close to what was on there to begin with).
But it worked and got us by. We were really excitetd about the support we received from
everyone in the pits. The 81 Ruttkamp team reeally helped us a lot and the 24 SP2 team. We
have a great bunch of fellow racers we race with. We feel very fortunate to be apart of
this great PASS series. To sum it all up we had one of those leaning curve weekends. But
lucky for us we came out with a top 10 finish."
